“Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC Parigi 2021 is bright and fresh nose of rhubarb, cherry stones, lemon rind and mushrooms. It’s medium- to fullbodied with juicy, ently earthy layers, supported by chalky and firm tannins. Drink or hold.”
Lavinium: 5/5 (årgang 2018)
“There are times when tasting a wine, in the classic sense of the term, doesn’t even cross your mind, not because of its demerits, on the contrary because it is so good that tasting it almost seems like a distraction, a waste of time, even an unfair tribute, too rational, too cerebral.
This happened to me with Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC Parigi 2018, a Nebbiolo d’Alba that I have already appreciated in the past, but which this time literally overwhelmed me. I leave aside the explanations on how Mauro Sebaste forges it, I refer you to Mario Crosta’s perfect description of 2017.
Instead, I want to get straight to the heart of the matter: this 2018 enchanted me, despite the high alcohol content, more like Barolo than Nebbiolo d’Alba, it was so good, elegant, intense, that I didn’t notice the alcohol, not even when there was perhaps a glass left in the bottle.
Now, smelling the violet, the iris, the rose, the cherry, in such an alcoholic wine, means that it is great, that it has an intact expressive charge that envelops your senses and simply makes you enjoy. Enjoying wine is a value, and it is rare, very rare, it goes beyond organoleptic pleasure, it goes beyond reflections on its quality, it just goes beyond, it is a gift of few, and Parigi 2018 has it.
I’m happy that Mauro managed to produce an “intermediate” wine of this level, it has an enthralling drinkability and an elegance that rivals many famous Barolos, sorry if it’s not much! Treat yourself to a case this holiday season.”
Rick Thompson: 89 points (årgang 2017)
“An interesting bottling, this 100% Nebbiolo grown in vineyards located in villages in Alba and Diano d’Alba and aged in a combination of 400-liter tonneaux of 60% American and 40% French oak for 12-14 onths. I don’t find the level of macaroon I often associate with American oak aging, which is nice!
Translucent ruby in hue with notes of light Morello (sour) cherry, ripe strawberry, raspberry and balsam lead to a delicious palate feel with tasty fresh fruit and a mid-length finish. Drink now-2024+”
